Glossary of Common Terms

Super User

Individuals that have privileged access in your account to perform integration, set permissions and use advanced features.

Scout Product Terminology

Account Root

DigitalStakeout is organized in a folder system. This allows for two primary needs to be fulfilled.


Data collection can be logically organized.


Super users can be compartmentalize access to logical data based on need.




Organizing Folder

An organizing folder simply enables users to create "file system" to better define data collection by concept. Super users can define user's access to the account level folder or to a specific organizing folder.

Collection

A collection would be best described as a project, issue, task, or area of focus. This enables users to use different search types to accomplish their data acquisition needs.

Monitor Types

Keyword Monitor: Collects data directly related to the keywords and phrases entered by the user across several sources chosen by the user.

Location Monitor: Collects data that contains location-based information from numerous sources, provided a location is mentioned (inferred geo), or the location services are on the tagged post.

RSS Monitor: Collects data from any public RSS or ATOM feed.

Page Collector: Collects and crawls into certain public pages on an hourly basis through DigitalStakeout's proxy system.

Email Collector: Collect emails with a Scout virtual mail box.

Webhook Collector: 
Collects information by using the Scout API to create a feed of imported content using a Webhook.Twitter Fire hose Monitor:Collects from a feed to monitor the Twitter fire hose by keyword.



Word Lists


Word lists are words and phrases which you can prioritize in a query. As you view results from all your monitors in DigitalStakeout, the application will prioritize your results based on your Word list configuration.

Entity
Things that can logically labeled into basic categories to evaluate relationships to other entities. Entities can be persons, places, things, concepts, and other tangible items. This meta-data is automatically extracted and appended to returned results.
